In order to fully understand tax exempt obligations of your trust, it is important to review the trust document, complete a questionnaire about the trust, and gather key data on the trust, the trustees, and the beneficiaries. It is also very important to set up an annual trust review and meeting. There is a major difference between a resident trust and a non-resident trust. New York, New Jersey and Connecticut law all differ in these matters.
